South By Southwest has released the full list of bands playing next month's margarita-drenched festival, and the numbers add up to about 1,600 bands spread across 79 stages. Among the acts playing the week's "official" showcases: R.E.M., Robyn, Vampire Weekend, Be Your Own Pet, the apparently-still-around Vines, and Naked Raygun. I tend to agree with the Austin Music Source that Dolly Parton is tops among the must-see acts... which, of course, means that the lines to get into every one of her appearances will be massive and I should just head on down to Austin now and camp out. Surely it's warmer there than it is in NYC, right? [Austin360.com]

My bicycle is rented and my accommodations are confirmed. See you at the chaos.
Abe Vigoda is still alive!? Or is it some ironic hipster band? I can't be bothered to do my own research. Regardless, that dude killed in Good Burger.
Both Robyn and Los Campesinos! neglected Portland on their short US tours, so they are both definitely at the top of my must-see list.
Oh, and how sick am I of the Kevin Shields confusion? Way to get me excited for nothing.
Wheatus?
"Teenage Dirtbag" Wheatus?
I guess if Nada Surf can survive "Popular" and play South by every year, then why not.
Seeing Dolly in a few weeks. Not only am I excited, but someone's reactions to hearing that you're going to see Dolly Parton is a good way to find out if they're cool or a poseur dipshit.
@heyzeus: The Dugout guys are going to have a field day.
Is there going to be an Idolator SxSW party?
@Camp Tiger Claw: Dang son, and to think I used to mark cool and poseur dipshit as synonymous. Thank god the Dolly Parton litmus test can now differentiate one from the other.
@Camp Tiger Claw: Did I mention on that other post that I was listening to "Islands in the Stream" because I'm going to Dolly's NYC show next week? EEEEEEP!!
@PeterBjorn&Yawn: Well you know, cool as in "Sometimes I like to listen to Dolly while I clean my house, cool."
@heyzeus: Sadly, Wheatus are still sorta big in the UK.
