Late ’90s Soft-Rock Faves Put Deep Blue Nail In Reunion Tour Market’s Coffin

You say that we’ve got nothing in common. Do do do. No common ground to walk on. And we’re falling apart. La la la. You’ll say the world has come between us. Our lives have come between us. Still I know you just don’t care about our reunion tour. And that’s one thing we got. [Music Slut]

    The craziest thing about this story is that the drummer from

    DBS used his Breakfast at Tiffany's money and started a record label, Kirtland Records, which bought Trauma's back catalog a couple of years ago. So the drummer from Deep Blue Something now owns the masters for Bush (he's the one that put out that live CD/DVD a couple of years ago) and the Flys.

    I understand how uncool this statement is, but I saw these guys play several times in Dallas prior to that godawful song, and, prior to that godawful song, they were actually not bad - atmospheric guitar stuff in a somewhat Wish-era Cure stylee, as I recall. I think, we both kind of fuck it.

    I personally think this is somehow an improvement. I always thought that chorus was one of the tritest things I had ever heard in my life.

  • Dick Laurent is dead.

    Get it out of my HEAD!

    @Didlett

    my life now complete.

    @tigerpop: Pantera's version is at least as good if not better than the Nuge's.

  • Diglett

    @jfk1624: Um, have you heard of a little thing called "college a cappella"? That's no high school jazz choir, that's CONTEMPORARY. And you will find the 90s pop among their ranks in red-tied truckloads.

    Makes Hootie and the Blowfish look like Motorhead.

  • tigerpop

    @MickFNS: Pantera actually recorded a cover of "Cat Scratch Fever." It's not good.

    Who on Earth is actually looking forward to this reunion? Even the band members must be shaking their heads. I can picture them saying, "Aw man, I'm gonna have to take my whole two weeks vacation from the True Value for this!"

    AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

    i remember thinking this song was kind of cool in high school. it's amazing how many more levels of 'suck' were hiding behind its faux coolness, just waiting to be unearthed!

  • jfk1624

    Please, please, PLEASE tell me there is an entire youtube channel dedicated to high school jazz choir renditions of 90's pop?

  • Jess Harvell

    @Ned Raggett: i LOLed.

  • MickFNS

    That was AWESOME. Loved it. Red-Tie Guy is definitely the breakout star there and I look forward to his solo album. Also loved the way they threw in the "Moon River" break - kinda reminds me of when Pantera used to play "Cowboys From Hell" and throw in a little "Cat Scratch Fever" riffing. Keep the costumes, change the name to "Deep Bland Something" and get in the van, kids...

  • Ned Raggett

    It's a bittersweet suckphony.

    That's life!

  • Diglett

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....OOOOOOOOOO.
