The summer of 2008 seems to be drowning in music festivals, but that hasn’t stopped the organizers of Rothbury, a spanking-new festival that plans to gather liberal-arts-educated kids of America together to think about climate change while they’re blissing out to the music of 311. Rothbury, which will be held in western Michigan over Fourth of July weekend, has a lineup that takes the jam-band-and-indie-rock stew of Coachella to another level: Headlining the festival are Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, and failed blogger John Mayer, while the lower half of the bill is rounded out by the likes of Of Montreal, Medeski Martin & Wood, the Dresden Dolls, Slightly Stoopid, Diplo, Colbie Caillat, and–Primus! (What year is this again?) Full college-arts-board-inspired lineup is after the jump.

The Dynamites are incredible live. Good to see more local Nashville bands branching out.
Is it just me or does that look like the lineup some folks were hoping on for Bonnaroo?
People who snark at Primus have never seen them live. They’re amazing.
Its always so suprising to see that these jam bands are still around, still popular, and amassing larger fan bases.
Maybe this summer, McCain and Obama/Hillary should focus more on winning “The Jam Band Vote”.
I’d pay $.99 to see a Snoop/Colbs set.
They play together fairly often at the yearly Camp Bisco. I only
know this because of friends (and family) involved. Also, whither
Wallflowers?
Man, I really love me some Dresden Dolls but they seem a tad out of place on such an otherwise congruous lineup.
Giving a shout-out to my fellow Athenians Drive-By Truckers, Of Montreal, and Dead Confederate. ATH!
considering the future in-laws only live an hour from there, I’d be likely to go to this if it was on a different weekend.
however, it did inspire me to put on Brighter Than Creations Dark right now.
