And yeah, I love that kickdrum. As well as the lyrics, which are a weird but intriguing mix of teenage conversation and non sequitirs ("my friend Leslie says" ... who?), and phrases no teenager would ever utter.

@Audif Jackson Winters III: What, "See You Again"? I've been shamelessly crushing on it 'round these parts for weeks now. Next to Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music," it's probably my favorite pop song on the radio right now. It's freakishly well-produced - like, whoever mixed it really knew what s/he was doing. (There's this guitar break late in the track where they pull the beat and then bring bring it back, with this slammin' little kickdrum hook, that's, like, Bob Clearmountain-worthy.)

FWIW, Petty now has more than one hits compilation -- the double disc Anthology: Through The Years was released in 2000. That '93 Greatest Hits really is near perfect, though, and pretty definitive for his career up to that point (aside from the lack of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around").

I don’t think the NFL would’ve smiled too kindly on Tom playing a drug-referencing song, i.e., “You Don’t Know How It Feels”. It would’ve been a pretty ballsy move on his part, though.

Buckcherry sure has gotten a lot of mileage off one album. I remember hearing Crazy Bitch like two years ago, and in between then and now somebody realized the same album has this wickedly cheesy power ballad. I didn’t think it’d hit the Hot 100′s top ten, though.
