Executive producer Beyonce is soon to portray Etta James in the tale of Chicago’s legendary Chess Records, and just in case you doubt her qualifications to portray such a music history heavy-hitter, Billboard‘s here to jog your IMDB lobe: “Knowles (‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’) earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Deena Jones in 2006′s ‘Dreamgirls.’” Foxy Cleopatra, may we never forget your mustard-colored afro and inability to use an indoor voice. Now that the writer’s strike is over, a script doctor can get to work on inserting dialogue like “I’m Etta James, and I’m a WHOLE LOTTA WOMAN!”
It’s Beyoncé. Avec aigu.
LEAVE ETTA ALONE!!!
Still can’t hate this girl, no matter how contrived she is, she’s still doing her ish and doing it pretty well.
Not looking forward to this film, though.
Beyonce, listen. You’re a diva, we love you, but please just stop it. You’re not getting an Oscar nomination. Never. It will NEVER happen. So just stop. NEVER.
Geez. So was Ashanti not available to take the role?
B is “exec producing” this in the same way that Paris Hilton “exec produced” that sorry project she just unleashed.
These girls have money, and they try and buy their way into the movie industry. It is the deepest possible insult to the craft of acting and to the institution of Film.
B keeps using these soul stars of yesteryear (i.e. Screamgirls, Grammy perf, Etta James etc) in an attempt to mask her lack of acting talent by playing a safe role in a story that has already been written and told.
This is as artistically lazy as Lindsay Lohan posing for those Marilyn pics.
B+Paris+LL=TALENT-FREE!! STOP THEM ALL NOW PLEASE!
