Chad Clark, the guitarist and songwriter for the terrific Washington, D.C. band the Beauty Pill, is having open-heart surgery later today after being diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy. From the band’s blog: “[The] surgery involves a guy I just met holding my heart in his hands and tinkering it with my chest sliced open. So, yeah, make no mistake: this is a life-and-death moment for yours truly.” [The Beauty Pill's MySpace blog]

Chad’s also been a major part of the Dischord remasters. I definitely wish him a full recovery.
Holy shit. I’ve loved Chad’s music, in Smart Went Crazy and Beauty Pill, for going on 10 years now, and just recently started listening to The Unsustainable Lifestyle a lot again and reminding myself of what a great, unique lyricist he is. So this is hitting me really hard at the moment, and I don’t often get emotional about people in bands. He will be in my thoughts today, I wish him the best.
According to their Myspace page the surgery was a success. Thank goodness, he is an awesome dude and they are an awesome band.
Yeah, I just came here to note that as well:

Really happy to hear this, may he live long and make a lot more music (also, considering how well written his blog posts always are, I hope he writes a book someday, too).
