The variable-pricing digital-music site Amie Street has added artists like Cat Power, of Montreal, and the Mountain Goats to its site, thanks to new agreements with the Beggars Group, Matador Records, and Polyvinyl. Amie Street’s pricing scheme is based on popularity, with users paying 0 to 98 cents a song based on how in-demand it is from users; right now, of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? is going for about 40 cents a track, while Vampire Weekend is, perhaps unsurprisingly, fetching top dollar. Er, penny. [Amie Street]

meh…Emusic carries all these labels and still only amounts to about 22 cents per song.
OK, so a friend just gave me Vampire Weekend and I’m listening to it for the first time.
Where is the part I’m supposed to be creaming my boxer briefs over?
@moff: Wow. The album just ended, and iTunes continued on alphabetically to Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love.” Sweet, sweet relief.
@tightwhyte: ‘zactly. Plus eMusic’s search function is not total ass.
@tightwhyte: Amen to emusic. I got grandfathered into their old pricing scheme and get 90 tracks a month for $20 a month. Plus, I found US Maple through that site.
It absolutely was really useful. many thanks for sharing this. I will share it with my friends. Thank you
