Following last week’s 1960s theme, this week on American Idol, the young hopefuls will mash their way through the songs of the ’70s. (I’m sure Fox is chagrined that it isn’t still showing That ’70s Show, as tonight’s episode would’ve been a wonderful opportunity for Wilmer Valderrama to show up as Fez and warble his way through “I Will Survive.”) And in yet another sign that this year’s contestants are all about recycling, David “My Mom Wants To Name My Fans” Archuleta sang “Imagine,” which he also treated the viewers of Star Search to a few years (and a changed voice) ago.
