univision.jpgUniversal Music Group announced today that it was buying the recording and publishing operations of Univision Music Group–a Spanish-language group of labels that includes Univision Records, Fonovisa Records and Disa Records–for an undisclosed sum, and that it would promptly phase out the “Univision Records” brand. The deal will also allow Universal Music Group to promote its artists on Univision Communications’ stable of Spanish-language TV networks, thus solidifying “vertical integration” as this week’s No. 1 music-biz buzzword.
