@revmatty: I will do no such thing. That record could give me concurrent BJs for the next year and it would never make up for the treacly horse manure they've been purveying since Richie's disappearance OR the dunderheaded rock and nonsensical pseudo-political sloganeering of the Richey era. I can't think of a band that I "get" less than this one.

Not to mention the fact that their idea of subversion is supporting a Cuban dictator who regularly suppressed homosexuals and dissent, even in retirement: [hrw.org]

I fully support all the Noel Fielding award-giving, but what the hell is up with the Manics winning god-like genius? Pshaw…Maybe: if Richie didn’t to a runner/(die?), Maybe: if they had stoppped making music after Everything Must go (a pretty great britpop album), Maybe: if Nicky Wire was one tenth less annoying….
I am glad that Klaxons got best album, it’s nice to see a band whose influences stretch back a bit further than the Libertines win.

To be fair, the Manics *are* Godlike Geniuses. Take a listen to Send Away the Tigers. Easily one of the best albums of 2007.

In terms of quality ranking, according to this list, it would appear that Britney and the Killers are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

As gawdy as 'Piece of Me' may be, it's certainly on par with any of the throwaway tracks from 'Sam's Town.' Which is all of them, really...
