Bookended by a cameo from a Justin Timberlake profiling in Cazals and white leather, the gleeful new video for Gnarls Barkley's "Run" is a tribute to a beloved but short-lived teevee hip-hop dance party, at least according to one Idolator reader left irate by certain lazy comparisons to American Bandstand. Whatever the neon inspiration for the clip's first half, the last few black and white minutes do have a certain swinging '60s op-art thing going on and should probably come with a seizure warning. It's like Graffiti Rock crossed with the early '80s local musicvideo show Hot! Crossed again with The T.A.M.I. Show.
Dude... that is totally P!nk at 0:38 and 2:38 in the graffiti rock video.
That video is pretty rad. I want Cee-Lo to shoot me with his eye powers.
Is that Justin Timberlake as the host...?
Uh... should have read the description first. Move along, nothing to see here.
Hah. Justin doin' the awkward whitehost thing.
I still believe this song has Go Team! written all over it.
I'm a little embarrassed that i know this but the arsonists did it first.
+ Watch video
Yeah, but it's The Arsonists. Who cares?
@Halfwit:
Actually, it's Debi Mazar... really.
@so1omon: I wasn't being facetious, but yeah... that's definitely Debi Mazar.
I think that may be a little cooler, actually.
have to say i'm pretty bummed by the video, its all flash no substance... i love the song since i heard it, and had this whole treatment daydreamed out in my head... playing off the lyrics, damn it i wanted to see a mass of inner city kids chasing some rich white kids!!! thanks for ruining it with another half-assed nostalgic throwback... talkin about twee-hop, Andre did it so much better with Heya
