mariahthatchick.jpgSure, Mariah Carey’s new album is called E=MC2, but her real genius may lie in her ability to best the verbal-gymnastics records currently held by Diablo Cody: “One of the rumours I just heard about was that I spent $150,000 in plastic surgery. What in the ham sandwich do they think I did? It’s very annoying.” “What in the ham sandwich”!?! That has way more dijonnaise flair than “honest to blog,” you have to admit. [The Mail On Sunday]

    @rad_matter:

    I think it's less "Queen's English" and more "let me say it how it's said in the streets." You know, for the cred and all. [Cause sometimes just being bff's with Da Brat just isn't enough?]

  • rad_matter

    According to the Yo on E! interview that the Daily Mail took this from, she did say "sammich." You know how the Brits are with the Queen's English and all.

  • DJorn

    I'd still hit that. No shame here.

  • rad_matter

    @Tauwan: I meant how the Daily Mail rephrased Mariah's comment, not how Mariah said it.

    I feel compelled to note that my academic advisor uses this expression all the time.

    I imagine (hope?) that this is the only thing she has in common with Mariah Carey.

    I heard someone say "how in the Harvey Keitel" a few months ago...

  • Chris Molanphy

    Maybe she sampled Tom Tom Club asking "What in the ham sandwich."

  • natepatrin

    Did Giorgio Moroder ever say "what in the ham sammich"?

    Sorry, i have to correct you on this. She actually said "What in the ham sammich..."

    She seems to be celebrating her scientific and mathematical ineptitude while promoting this album, as she's quick to point out how little resemblance she has to Albert Einstein, having "failed remedial math", an accomplishment she's quite proud of, unfortunately.

    And why spoil that magic by properly pronouncing a basic food product, especially one she is so (obviously) familiar with?
