Enough is enough.

This is the 21st century and there is no reason why we're still fussed with guitars.

A blanket ban on the instrument in all its forms should be put into immediate effect.

This will get rid of the "rock lead guitarist", the "college indie strummer" and the Sonic Youth inspired wanker all in one efficient move. Studios will be equipped with the Roland 808, mellotrons and glockenspiels. Popular music will be instantly richer.

Our descendants will thank us.

If i remember correctly, the Revolver review of NERD's first album called it "hip-hop's Pet Sounds"-so maybe they were better off sticking to rock.

I was 13 when Revolver first starting publishing and I think I bought their first four or five issues. These issues included an interview with Alex Chilton, a consumer's guide to the Yo La Tengo back-catalog (adjacent to their review of And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out) and footnotes explaining all the semi-obscure references in their interviews and articles. All in all, a good resource for an aspiring adolescent rock snob.

I liked Revolver before it went heavy metal - it was a magazine that I actually liked reading.

Now that honor has been shifted to Blender, because I'm just not all that into Rolling Stone or SPIN (well, not as much as I was in college for the latter).

Oh, how I miss Rip. I learned about so many bands, good and bad, from it's glossy pages. Friend wrote Life on Planet Rock, a light but interesting book a year or two ago, that I recommend if you're looking for some rock fluff...
