Bret Michaels And His Sweaty Bandanas To Headline Rocklahoma

The initial lineup for Rocklahoma, the festival of Headbanger’s Ball darlings of yore taking place in Pryor, Okla., this July 10-13, was just announced at a press conference helmed by radio host and personal Mike Piazza fan Eddie Trunk, who called the bands playing the festival “a new generation’s classic rock” who are currently handing the baton to bands currently making their way up the ranks (cough, cough). I listened to the whole press conference–from fakeout involving a pre-conference spin of Faith No More’s “Epic” to the revelation that Black N’ Blue is reuniting because the lead singer needs a gig to the “WE NEED BIG BANDS” proclamations from those gathered in the press conference’s attached chat room–so I could bring you the lineup as it stands now. It’s after the jump. (Don’t say I don’t care.)

I think I’m more interested in the photo of a pre-wig Bret Michaels than I am in that line-up!

    Lynch Mob? I’m there!

Harlow? From Bands On The Run? I just remember they were a female quartet cut from the Hole mold and that they had a song called Mike Hunt.

Cinderella? Somewhere Chuck Klosterman pumps his fist in joy.

@encyclopediablack: no, this is another harlow:

Mickey Kravitz (vocals), Hyland Church (guitar), Mike Rubyor (drums), Matt Cascio (guitar) were signed to Greenworld Records in 1986 and released the album “We Do What We Wanna Do” and the single “Rock the Box”. Retrospect will reissue the first record along with five to six new songs.

Pat Smear produced some of the early Harlow demos as well. Why are they playing a hair-metal festival?

Also, Extreme? Does that mean Gary Cherone and Nuno have buried the hatchet? What does this mean for Perry Farrell’s Satellite Party?

  7. by MrStarhead at 8:22 am

Pat Smear produced the Bands on the Run Harlow, not the hair-metal Harlow. Wait, how did Harlow get on Bands on the Run with a name that should have been trademarked already?

  8. by Maura Johnston at 8:38 am

@MrStarhead: nuno left satellite party last july, and gary and nuno buried the hatchet shortly after (they performed at a brad delp tribute show).

@Maura Johnston: Why is there more than one Harlow?

    @encyclopediablack: i blame nicole richie.

    wow. underwhelming.

not that last year was a defining lineup,
but doesent it seem like this is jam-packed with “never-weres”?

    biggest draw?
    jani lane with warrant?

  12. by Mick Kraut at 10:35 am

Triumph is playing twice? Hard working act right there…

  13. by FionaScrapple at 2:15 am

Where are the Bulletboys? Those dudes kick serious ass.

  14. by El Zilcho! at 9:40 am

Bret Michaels, sans Poison, is headlining? I’d think that the reunited Warrant would be a bigger draw. Or Extreme. Or even Enuff Z’Nuff.

    candyass

    No Y & T no credibility.

    Oklamhoma? Never heard of it.

No White Lion? Vito Bratta and Mike Tramp can’t be up to anything more worth their while. Also, is there still a beef between Lynch and Don Dokken preventing a full-scale Dokken reunion? Find it funny that Extreme finally got it together. The VH-1 show “Bands Reunited” tried to get those guys back together in ‘04 but Nuno was too much of an ass (everyone else seemed into it).

I was going to make a wiseass crack like, “What, no Trixter? Forget it.”

    But nope, they’ve got Trixter.
