Hey, it's Jess. I'm back after one week "at large"—a.k.a. hiding in my apartment watching Criterion DVD's and eating Cap'n Crunch—to steer this thing while the skipper's away at SXSW. Dan, Mike, Matos, Jim Backus, and the rest will be continuing to help keep the post count up to Dentonian standards during the day, but let's face it, you're really reading this week to see what sort of shenanigans Maura gets up to while in Austin. I'm a little bit rusty after my vacation—tips are welcome, because I think I've forgotten how to work an RSS reader—but together we can get through the next five days with a minimum of references to Vampire Weekend and/or Perez Hilton. And hey, if things get boring maybe my boss will get into a slap fight with Rachael Ray. Did we send a video camera down there?

So. Which Criterion DVD's did we watch? I own entirely too many of those damned things...
I hope someday soon that people realize that there are other DVD studios that are just as good (if not better) than Criterion. Unfortunately, most of them are in the UK and produced only R2 PAL DVD's.

And no, I'm not saying that because I'm not there. I really, really don't want to be in Austin right now. (Well, maybe I'm bummed to be missing a few of the day/night off-fest parties ... but I'll live.)
