Dear Stereogum, if you promise to never, ever write about hip-hop ever again (ever!)–especially with all the overwrought Wire references, factual errors about samples, misspellings (unless that errant “e” tacked onto Flavaor Flav is some Quayle-era gag I don’t get), fat jokes, and ironic “z’s” added to the end of words–then I promise to, I dunno, donate some of my newfound free time to the local ASPCA or a hospice or something for a little public service quid pro quo. The misspelling of Flav’s name is a running storyline on this season of Flavor of Love. I hate myself for knowing that.
Also, if you’re going to bitch about someone else’s writing skills, you might want to doublecheck your use of parentheticals before hitting publish.

I actually link my idolator profile on stereogum. One is for business news and snark discussion. The other is for music I actually care about. Both provide an outlet for hating Vampire Weekend at least once every few weeks.

Jess is really right about this. Idolator’s not perfect when the editors write about hip-hop, either, but they at least understand that rappers are human beings.

@elvissinatra: The post initially said that Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing” sampled, well, “Wild Thing” … I guess the original version by the Troggs. Of course, it actually samples liberally from “Janie’s Cryin’”.
