If it’s Tuesday, it’s time to find out about the latest entrant into the more-crowded-than-ever 2008 festival lineup! Say hello to the brand-new Mile High Music Festival, which is headlined by Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty, and John Mayer; it’s scheduled to take place July 19 and 20 in a park that’s nine miles outside of downtown Denver. (For those of you marking calendars, yes, that’s the same weekend as the Pitchfork Music Festival. So much for Petty playing Full Moon Fever on Friday night in Chicago!) The current announced lineup–which, be warned, bills OneRepublic above the Roots–after the jump.

This almost makes me glad that I’m too broke to get out of LA.
Not my scene, not really worth it just to see the roots and spoon. I can tell that it is certainly directed at some audiences, so good for them.
The Roots: Will Work for Weed.
Spoon?
In case anyone was still in denial that Andrew Bird is treading dangerously close to jam band territory, this is incontrovertible proof.
that is in Commerce City. Commerce City smells like a septic tank if you threw in a burning tire. Which, incidentally, isn’t all that different than what hippies smell like aftrer sitting out in the sun for 2 days in July.
I refuse to go to any festival that features O.A.R. Even though they’re from my hometown and I am supposed to think they are awesome, I can not emphasize enough how much their music sucks.
@blobby: Oh, man. O.A.R. You are so right. They even still use that Dave McKean/Sandman/Vertigo font that was kinda old in 1995. Blech.
One of my bands had a CD release show the same night as an O.A.R. show and people treated this with grave concern. I didn’t know who in the hell O.A.R. was, so I went online and checked them out. And was absolutely mortified. THESE were the guys I was supposed to be worried about? Needless to say, we did alright because our crowds were different, but those ham salads packed the Classic Center here in ATH, which is probably the reason that God lets babies die.
to everyone who commented negatively on the mile high festival, i’m truly disappointed in you. if you’re so uninterested in such a concert, why the hell would you bash it? wow… cowards is all i have to say.
