AP070909042528.jpgI have a personal metric for how ridiculous American society has become, a calculation that simply adds together the amount of respect the culture affords to two phenomena: Donald Trump and Playboy. Given that in the past 10 minutes two messages heralding various Playboy/music tie-ins have landed in my inbox–back to back, and featuring one Steve Aoki name-drop–and tonight’s Celebrity Apprentice finale has as one of its last men standing the dude who brought the world “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” let’s just say that my feelings on the state of music in America as of this very moment are kinda grim. (Thank God I haven’t tweaked the formula to account for sex-tape chatter yet, otherwise I’d have abandoned blogging for the ledge long ago.) [Photo: AP, and it probably makes sense that it's from a Video Music Awards afterparty, doesn't it?]
