Big-time BitTorrent search engine–and MPAA lawsuit target–TorrentSpy has ceased operations because, according to one of its admins, “The legal climate in the USA for copyright, privacy of search requests, and links to torrent files in search results is simply too hostile. We spent the last two years, and hundreds of thousands of dollars, defending the rights of our users and ourselves.” Not that I think the RIAA or the MPAA are fine, upstanding organizations, but I can’t help but roll my eyes at the constant “we’re so persecuted but dood we’re like Robin Hood!!11onenoe” attitude of the BitTorrent elites.
