The homophobia of his early albums, as well as recent singles (I'm pretty sure "stay in your lane, Brokeback ain't the way of the game" is meant as a gaybait in 2007's "The Game") would imply that Common is seriously bothered by alternate lifestyles. Even his pseudo-apologia "Between Me, You & Liberation" on Electric Circus was more conflicted than regretful. But this video of an awkward Common nodding and adding "yes, yes, y'all"'s to "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Holiday" at an outdoor fair in San Francisco reveals that if he can't get over the idea of two men having sex, it's not because he's a closet queen. You know how I know you're gay? You wore a hoodie in a Gap commercial.
I always have to question why people have to go out of their way to speak of their distaste for gayness/queerness. It always just reeks of "the lady doth protest to much" and makes me think they're secretly obsessed with it.
I have an inkling that this was actually shot in Miami at the Shelborne Hotel--I know he hosted a hip-hop party by their pool on Sunday. I'm not sure--it was Winter Music Conference down here and I was at another party at the time. I recall that they had a lot of crazy decorations by their pool like the one seen in part of the video.
@rad_matter: After reading the comments, I think I can prove he was in Miami over the weekend: [www.traxsource.com]
Not the best source, but it's the best I can do.
@rad_matter: d'oh, I think you're right and that I misinterpreted TMZ's reference to "Frisco street cred." Don't let that stop the roffles, though. Holidayeee...uh!
@extracrispy: Know how I know you're gay?? You sang a duet with Macy Gray
A man that loves tight pants that much is always suspect.
Guy doesn't want his tie to get too close to his dick, so he asked Mom if she still had the one he wore in third grade.
