It's official! We even called to verify! WEILAND IS NO LONGER IN VELVET REVOLVER. Ding-dong, the witch is dead. Which old witch? The wicked witch! Ding-dong, the wicked witch is dead.
Velvet Revolver founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," said Slash. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."
Apply now, aging long hairs!

Sebastian Bach, come on down!
Axl! Where are you!?
A shaken nation turns its eyes to you, Axl.
Lukas Rossi, this is your big chance!
question: does the subtraction of scott weiland somehow make this band good, or even potentially good? weiland at least fared well enough on those underrated (by douchebags like us, i mean - they sold millions, of course), glammy 2nd & 3rd STP albums. Sebastian Bach? Axl? i submit that velvet revolver's insistence on embarrassing buttrock was not a scott weiland-specific problem.
David Archuleta?
Dave Coutts seems like the only logical choice.
@westartedthis: i love those two records. especially 'interstate love song,' which is kinda majestic.
When my grandkids ask where I was when I first heard that Weiland was out of VR...I will have to make something up.
Nicole Scherzinger?
Westartedthis is right on. Weiland is a douche, but he's hardly to blame for the Geritol 'N Whiskey fart that is VR.
Maybe he can replace the singer for Fuel (replacing Astbury, replacing Morrison) in The Doors.
This is a historic moment in the history of rawk!
@Maura Johnston: god bless "rock band" for making my slightly-younger indie doofus friends listen to that song.
Where is Mark Slaughter at, and would he be willing to perform without the sycophancy of Dana Strum?
@westartedthis:
Nothing "glammy" about Tiny Music. The album is simply brilliant.
dear slash et al: you know who isn't dead yet? ian hunter. please give him a call.
Rick Astley is probably available, and he's seen a recent surge in popularity.
Ditch the bald douche and call Izzy.
That way, at least I can hear "14 Years" live.
Miley Cyrus?
Andrew WK?
How does this get more comments than the New Kids reunion news this morning? I don't know about you but I've owned more New Kids albums then Velvet Revolver albums. I mean my girlfriend does.
Stop commenting Jon.
Perry Farrell?
(I actually think it's going to be Bob Lefsetz.) LOLZ
Sebastian Bach, come on down!
snicker if you must, but he's a surprisingly good performer, or was when I saw him with Camp Freddie 5 years ago (Slash was there too)
Also, my friend Mike had dinner with him once. He said he (Sebastian) vacillated between extreme friendliness and hostility, insisted on being called "Sea Bass" and, at the end of the evening, sprinted away across Santa Monica Blvd. and disappeared into the night.
i submit that velvet revolver's insistence on embarrassing buttrock was not a scott weiland-specific problem.
It wasn't even embarassing butt-rock, it was just boring, unmelodic, joyless music. At least butt rock was fun. if they had had 1/100th the musicality, attitude, or even the haircuts of "Appetite" era Guns, maybe someone somewhere would have actually cared about them.
To be brutally honest, they lacked the musical merit of a Cinderella, or even a Pretty Boy Floyd.
@Maura Johnston: I share your love for 'Interstate Love Song,' even if it means my friends stare at me while I sing its praises.
I think it's time for William Hung to shine once again.
Sammi Hagar? Gary Cherone? ...Ray Wilson?
Meat Loaf?
Everyone ready for "Rock Star: Velvet Revolver" the new CBS reality show this fall? I just can't figure out how producers will get Slash to speak comprehensibly on live television. Well, if Paula Abdul can...
I actually liked Scott Wayland/Whyland/Weeland. When he wasn't talking, at least. Which has become an increasingly rare occurrence.
@valido: Gary Wilson.
Comment on SO NOT A JOKE: Weiland Ejected From Velvet Revolver you guys are just haters... **************Create a Home Theater Like the Pros. Watch the video on AOL Home. (http://home.aol.com/diy/home-improvement-eric-stromer?video=15&ncid=aolhom00030000000001)
How about Pete Doherty? He can hold his own when it comes to crackwhoreishness, no?
Kip Winger is available.
@Thierry: steev mike?
@FionaScrapple: Agreed, but Purple and Core were fucking fantastic.
@Dead Air ummm Dead Air: I had to read that a few times, as I was sure you said "Dave Coulier". Who I think would be an awesome choice, by the way.
Dee Snider?
