It came about three weeks later than it should have, but Ramiele Malubay was eliminated from American Idol tonight, after a bottom three that was also made up of the equally weak Kristy Lee Cook and the endlessly sunny Brooke White. The perhaps-requisite irony: Ramiele’s elimination was followed by perhaps her best performance of the season (who knew that emotion could actually fuel a solid performance of a love song?). More on tonight’s episode tomorrow, as it actually had enough content to give something of a recap to (Jason Castro’s goofy dancing, the return of the Clark Brothers, the weird church-revival feeling pervading the proceedings) for once.

I cried more at having to endure her Beatles tune than she did when she got booted. Am I a jerk?
@whoneedslight: Thank Jesus. And sparrows.
No, no — it’s Jesus and gravity! Were you paying no attention during Dolly’s performance?
(Sheez, was that ghastly, or what? And I wanted her to be good.)
@Chris Molanphy:
I was taking Dolly’s, but making it my own.
whatever! they should have kicked syesha off. she sucks!
The reaction shot of her family was priceless, and they only held it for a split second. I had to go back. 5 people with jaws DROPPED. As if they didn’t even consider it a possibility that Ramiele was the one going.
The reaction shot of her family was priceless, and they only held it for a split second. 5 people in a row with jaws completely DROPPED. As if they didn’t even think it was a possibility this could be Ramiele’s week.
Babbling Brooke is beginning to remind me of her idol John Mayer. Both make dull music and good comedy. Except Mayer’s comedy seems a bit more intentional.
Thank Jesus. And sparrows. And high waisted shorts.
Amen.
Kristy Lee Cook’s “Your Seat” note was quite possibly the most awkward moment in 7 years of American Idol.
Ramiele the Troll voted off was the best possible birthday gift I could have received. YEAH!
@hoowa: I will fite you!
Then maybe she shouldn’t have gone SOOOOOO off key in the middle of her song.
I think Brooke hastened her inevitable exit with her crying, which was transparently personal.
oh well, I’m still in love with Ramiele Malubay. Forget Danny, move in with me. :)
