Someone is paying Fatboy Slim to make another album, and Iggy Pop is going to warble on it. "I've done a track with him and a few others as well," says the late-'90s techno duck. "We've been mates for years. He always comes to see me at shows and I'm like, 'You're Iggy Pop, what are you doing here?'" Good question. It's possible that the Stooges' less than transcendent arrangement of "Ray Of Light" inspired him to get a slighty (slightly) less outdated groove on. Or maybe he hope to score another "Aisha."
Remember "Aisha?" This 1999 Death In Vegas collaboration actually made the UK top 10.
His recent electro-jam with the Teddybears, "Punkrocker," did somehow get in some car ads.
Barring an albums of duets with Deborah Harry or Kate Pierson, it might not be a bad idea for Iggy to make a whole album of this crap. He could call it... Cyberpunk!

Your article title is THE sound of electronica.
Someone is paying Fatboy Slim to make another album
This is a perfect introduction.
@Ned Raggett: I used to play that track "fatboy slim is fucking heaven, fatboy slim is fucking in hevaen..." over and over in high school to piss my mom off.
I thought his brand of ultra-marketable (always in commercials)/listening to while I get ready to go out electronica was all right.
@SneakingThroughTheAlleyWithLalley: That would be "Fucking In Heaven."
"right here, right now, right hereherehereherehehehehehhhhhhhh"
or this classic from CJ Bolland:
"sugar daddy-o/sugar daddy o/suuuuuuuuuuggggggggur daaaaaaddddyyyy"
or how about The Wiseguys?
For a second I was thinking Iggy covered ABC's Iesha. That I'd like to hear.
@Audif Jackson Winters III: yeh, i got it right the 2nd time, typo the first. But I always welcome grammar/syntax error comments.
Iggy and Norman (under the name Brighton Social Club or something) already worked together on that cover of The Monochrome Set's "He's Frank" that's on the Heroes soundtrack.
"Aisha", still awesome after all these years.
that teddybears song is great!
@cassidy2099: "Boyz II Men, ABC, BBD...." Oh, East Coast Family, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
I like his duet with Peaches where he claims her genital region contains "fuzzy fotch."

@SneakingThroughTheAlleyWithLalley: I was naming the track, not correcting you.
@queensissy: Holy crap. I am just speechless.
Iggy's on the new (-ish? I dunno it's not out in the US) Praxis album, and it's easily the weakest song on there, but it's good to see him getting out there and guesting on all these songs. He's like a geriatric Lil Wayne.
He's got some good new stuff with The Stooges.
Iggy's an icon amongst icons.
The originators of punk.
