Those wacky Christians, thinking they can make music like the rest of us. What’s next? The blacks? The women? The gays, even? Why does every single rock critic feel the need, when deigning to comment upon the existence of this so-called “Christian” rock, to point out that they themselves are not Christian? You’ve judged this band based on your own bias against Christians themselves, and not the quality of the music made by Christians. So their fans get tattoos and make overly-emotional comments on their MySpace page, you say? Shocked! Shocked, I am! That never happens in the world of secular music, by gum. I think the Dodos are better than you’re giving them credit for, but then my introduction to them was as a live band. (I had to wipe floor dust off of my jaw at the end.) So maybe I’m projecting a little when I dig the records.
