Axl Rose, Possibly Inspired by Revolvadrama, Spins Tracks For Bigwigs

wenn821161.jpgWith everybody talking about what will become of the band Guns N’ Roses, it’s no surprise Axl would like people to start talking about the name Guns N’ Roses again, preferably in a less carbonated context. Word is that he’s been playing six (six!) songs for “music industry honchos, tastemakers and so forth,” and at least one anonymous music executive is pleased with what he’s heard.

The exec raved about the music. “It’s really good,” he said. “Axl’s voice sounds exactly the same, but the songs sound contemporary. You expect it to be a trainwreck, but it’s not.”

Still no set release date, but they’re claiming 2008 is still a possibility. I have a crazy idea: Why not put away some of the keyboards, have the band bash through another six songs in a week (I’m sure Axl’s written that many more), put the twelve together and toss the thing out ASAP? Half the album will the kind of expensive magic Axl’s being crafting oh so carefully over the last fifteen years–I’m sure there’s a radio-ready power ballad or two in the can–and the other half will be live ?!*@ like a suicide!!! Then there’s something for everybody.

If it’s the same six songs that have made the rounds on internets, I agree with said executive. The songs aren’t bad but they suck if nobody can hear them.

I hope they pick Axl to be the new Velvet Revolver frontman. Somehow.

Contemporary? I don’t like the sound of that.
