Popdose revisits one of my favorite singles of the late '80s, Duran Duran's Shep Pettibone-tricked "I Don't Want Your Love": "Simply put, Pettibone saved Duran Duran's ass. Armed with an explosive intro, bubbly percussion, a bottom-heavy rhythm section, staccato horns, and a brief but fierce guitar solo, 'I Don't Want Your Love' was a hell of an intro to Duran Mach II." Could you imagine what mid-period Duran Duran would have been like without this song? Something tells me they'd be donning the unfortunate matching suits even earlier in their career! [Popdose]

Saved Duran Duran's ass or prolonged the misery? It's not like Pettibone "saved" them FOR something... it was more like a sad last hurrah.
I heard "Election Day" by Arcadia yesterday, and was sorta freaked that I didn't remember it.

Well, "Ordinary World"/"Come Undone" were still en route a couple of years down the line. But this was probably their last hyperenergetic number to chart.
Good point - forgot about those... but to be fair, it was just prolonging the pain until the original lineup reformed. I mean was their cover of "White Lines" really necessary?

Pettibone's remix of New Order and Pet Shop Boy's stuff still rules. I can't say I really like that period of Duran Duran material, 81 through 84 was my favorite with a sprinkling of their later stuff (Electric Barbarella, Sunrise).
@NickEddy: Really? That's easily the best track by any of the 1985 Duran offshoots. (Not counting "Bang A Gong" b/c it simply doesn't count.)
