If you had “April 10″ in your “When will Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III be delayed once again?” pool, congratulations: The long-in-the-works album has been pushed back from its already-delayed release date, and is now set to hit stores on June 10, a date that Universal execs no doubt picked in part because it kept the album on the label’s Q2 balance sheet. There’s also been some scuttlebutt about Tha Carter III‘s visual component, with a fake cover that mashed together a vintage Sears Portrait Studio baby picture, Weezy’s tattoos, and some questionable font choices floating around yesterday. After the jump, the phony album art and the supposedly real Carter III cover.
The fake:

The allegedly real:

Hoodwinked!: Please tell me this is the real Carter III cover [Miss Info]
Lil’ Wayne’s Carter III Pushed Back [SOHH]

A black man will probably be president of the U.S before the III comes out.
Oh wait…
I’d be way more psyched if I’d heard him back up his “best rapper alive” title by being, you know, actually good for more than one verse out of every seven.
Delayed possibly to give girlfriend Trina time to promote her new album?
Or does the album just not live up?
Semi-related, but I’ve been getting tons of spam comments on my blog that reference this album, instead of the normal C1a_l1s
Can we still call the fake Carter cover “art?”
Oddly, the label apparently confirmed that the Sears Portrait Studio cover art was legit yesterday. [popwatch.ew.com]
If they can’t pick a cover, they’re never gonna pick a release date. Luckily I still have about 20 undownloaded Wayne mixtapes to warm my lonely nights.
