“The world is such a mess, what’s needed is a new Whitesnake album!” David Coverdale told it like it is at the Cutting Room, creating a novel context for Good To Be Bad, which comes out April 22. The album features three songs with the word “love” in the title, two with the word “need,” two that reference a period of time, one about the blowing wind, and one about the summer rain. Sez Coverdale: “The responses I’ve been getting are that the album is a heady cocktail that embraces the whole history of Whitesnake within one album. Which was not planned, but fortunately, I’ll drink two of those cocktails!” What are you, Rod Stewart now?

They did an acoustic set of old classics and new songs from their first album in 10 years, ‘Good to be Bad,’ ” said one audience member. Coverdale also acknowledged the band’s 30-year career, belted out “Here I Go Again,” posed for pics with groupies who came to the show, and was overheard saying, “God, life is really great.”

Whitensake will be hitting the road with Def Leppard this summer in Europe, before returning to America with that heady cocktail. But you know what would make life really great, Dave? If you put your efforts towards creating the long-awaited Coverdale/Page II. If that doesn’t inspire Robert Plant to get Zep back out on the road, nothing will.

“Thank you for a wonderful evening. Let’s kick the shit out of this place, shall we, OsaKAAAAAAA?????’
