Funk-Metal Is Alive And Well, In France

You kids ever heard of the Infectious Grooves? They were this side project of the Suicidal Tendencies (you know, “Instutionalized!!!!”) that helped make the early nineties just a little more funky and a little more metal. Check out albums like Groove Family Cyco and The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move for a taste. Original bassist Robert Trujillo is busy having therapy sessions with Metallica, but singer Mike Muir, guitarist Dean Pleasants and three new members have joined together to rock your shit live! In Marseilles! Doing Suicidal Tendencies songs!

No American dates have been announced, but the band has three more dates in France left to complete their European tour. Two of them are with Fishbone (remind me to tell you about Fishbone sometime, kids)! Cyco Mike and the gang plans to film their upcoming show in Paris this Saturday for an eventual DVD release. A new album is coming too, so punk it up!

For more about Mike Muir and the rich history of funk-metal, consult your local library.

For a whole summer in college, I had the phrase “Infectious Grooves is in the house…” stuck in my head…

As for Fishbone, it’s a shame that you’ll never hear the words “Party At Ground Zero” without someone thinking you’re being insensative…

Fishbone=one of the best live bands of all time.
I miss the original ST as well as IG, with pre-Metallica Trujillo, not that I blame him, what was that signing bonus again? a mill? I’d put up with Lars for that.
