The Guardian "leaked" most of the Glastonbury lineup this morning, and while there are certainly portions that sound very alluring (especially ignoring the logistical issues of actually traveling to an muddy field in the middle of England), it appears American festivals aren't alone in having an off year.
Glastonbury tickets, which normally are nearly impossibly to obtain, are moving slowly this year, and there's already been some grumbling about Jay-Z as a headliner (although Brits should thank their lucky stars they didn't end up with Jack Johnson, right?) However, the acts announced today are a mixed bag of wtf's and pleasant surprises, with John Mayer, James Blunt and Gilbert O'Sullivan leading the former and Leonard Cohen, the Verve and The National the best of the latter. Somewhere in the middle, we have Duffy, The Feeling, Manu Chao, and Goldfrapp. Another category adequately covered is "Who The Hell Are These People And Why Do Their Names Seem Like Noises Toddlers Make?", featuring The Ting Tings and Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong.

Gillbert O'Sullivan? Seriously? That's kind of awesome in a "As long as I don't actually have to see them" way.
But I'm more of a WOMAD guy anyway...
Their problem is they have too damn many festivals, and unless you're just hardcore into one of the many bands making the rounds, the massive amount of lineup overlap gets dull.
I like British music festivals - they have 30 - 40 % more hooliganism than their American counterparts.
I'd maybe show up for sunday, but otherwise a very snoozeworthy lineup.
What a shame- I used to idolize the Reading/Leeds festival ads from Q to the point of putting them on my wall and wishing I lived in the UK. This list seriously saddens me.
It's worth noting that the Ting Tings are much, much, much better than Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong.
…Goldfrapp and Leonard Cohen on the same bill. How odd. For the most part only the "Other Stage" bill seems really worth it.
@recidivicious: Right on, my brother---too many festivals everywhere, be they music or film festival. Christ, there's a Newport friggin' Beach Film Festival! Make it stop...
