Def Leppard’s VIP Lounge Gets A Bit Crowded

From the press release announcing the cover of Def Leppard’s Live From The Sparkle Lounge: “As you can see, the band went for a cover in the style of THE BEATLES’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, by using a collage of photos of various people who have a connection with the band in one way or another.” If anyone would like to tell me how the Mona Lisa is connected to the multiple Joe Elliotts that I can count, I’m all ears. (And who knows, maybe Vivid Video will be, too.)

My god that’s an ugly cover.

I could make a better collage with one arm tied behind my back. Oh, er, sorry, sore subject.

“The Sparkle Lounge” sounds like a gay bar

It’s too bad the result is so tacky and Photoshoppy, because a metal-centric Sgt. Pepper cover is actually a clever idea.

If they’d gone all the way Beatles-wise and done this with actual photography — i.e., band members standing in front of paper cutouts — they’d have gotten not only a better-looking result but points for wit.
