I wonder if there’s someone out there (maybe even in the Idolator audience!) who actually took the time–not to mention the risk of massive eyestrain–to watch last night’s Madonna concert simulcast on their cell phone, even though “streaming live video is incredibly bandwidth-intensive for mobile operators… [and] of questionable value to subscribers, given the small screens of most mobiles.” So wait, you mean to tell me that if you shrink the above picture down to a 125-pixel width and look at it while listening to Madonna songs through a pile of static you won’t feel like you’re there? Next thing you’re gonna say, Hollywood Reporter, is that ringback tones aren’t popular! [Hollywood Reporter]

I hear from my die-hard Madonna loving friend that it was just horrendous…messy vocals and a mic slip-up a la Mimi/GMA.
The show itself wasn’t bad, she did ok for the most part. The main problem was w/MSN’s broadcasting of it- on the initial broadcast the audio was a few seconds off from the video which was extremely annoying. From what I understand they’ve adjusted it for future viewing.
As far as the show itself, she relied a little too much on backing tracks for the few dance-heavy numbers(for which the choreography and her energy admittedly were both pretty impressive), but she sounded ok on the songs where she wasn’t dancing around a lot, especially Miles Away. I’ve read on message boards there was some minor screw-up when she was playing guitar during HU, but I didn’t notice it.
you know our major phone carrier in Aus was privatised a little while ago and everyone said it would be okay, since then all they’ve seemed to do is market how we can download half-minute snippets of various Fox programs to our mobile…
