Despite the keytarist drama, Cobra Starship is forging on through their allotted time in the alternative rock consciousness, even if it means sitting down for an interview with the WWE. As it turns out, the band members are huge fans of pro wrestling, and even took the time to attend this week’s Raw. (This marks the first time a fedora has ever been worn by an audience member at a WWE event.)
“I grew up on this stuff. I was a huge fan of IRS,” said Gabe Saporta, Cobra Starship’s lead vocalist. “I go for the bad guys. I like Randy Orton and especially JBL, because I read his column on WWE.com. He always gives me good stock tips.”
Cobra Starship enjoys watching Raw live on USA Network whenever they’re not on the road. However, the group admits that seeing the show in person, along with thousands of our screaming fans, is a unique experience altogether.
I wonder how long it will take for this particular facet of Gabe Saporta’s personality to become incorporated into the bandom universe?

So, where’s the John Cena remix of “Guilty Pleasure,” then?
Nothing wrong with doing a WWE interview. All the presidential candidates did it 2 weeks ago. Plus, they could totally collaborate with Macho Man Randy Savage next time he does a rap album.
Lame-ass faux band loved by morons embraces lame-ass faux sport embraced by morons? Makes sense to me.
Something about them attending Raw at the Izod Center in East Rutherford makes them even lamer. Can’t explain why.
@Dead Air ummm Dead Air: it’ll forever be the brendan byrne arena in my heart.
When they released Snakes on a Plane (Bring It), I was convinced they would rise to a level of fame directly on par with Ray Parker, Jr. I was wrong; they fell short. Thanks for playing.
@Maura Johnston: Ditto.
Although The Rock in Newark is pretty nice.
And they haven’t reached out to Jake “The Snake” Roberts to appear in their next video yet? Hacks!
Hey idolator - not to defend Cobra Starship, who’re worthless, but: why not take a swipe at Bob Mould too? Huh now?
I proudly own the Sgt Slaughter & Camouflage album “Rocks America” from 1985 on vinyl, bought as a laugh for the covers of “Temptation Eyes” and Neil Diamond’s “America,” and also because it was recorded in fairfield, NJ — and yet, strangely enough, it’s kinda … good.
Just kidding. It sucks horse balls.
This is small potatoes compared to the ECW pay-per-view in Chicago like eight years ago, when Billy Corgan walked into the center of the ring, and hit somebody over the head with an acoustic guitar (sadly, I’m not joking).
