Have you ever wondered if Kanye West was the type of kid who, during his school years, would get pissed off when he "only" scored a B+ on an exam? OK, it's probably obvious that he was, and still is. But signing off his response to Entertainment Weekly's pretty-decent-overall review of his tour-opening show in Seattle with "Never come 2 one of my shows ever again, you're not invited and if you see me... BOW!!! This is not pop, it's pop art! Chris Willman, kill yourself!" makes me wonder if he's going to respond to every review that pops up along his tour in this fashion, and if he's stocking up on antacids in order to soothe the ulcers that are an obvious byproduct of said vitriol. • i was thinking of buying a ticket for the show in atlanta on sunday, but after reading his "review" of his review, i might have to be done with him for a while.

  • Was it this site, or maybe it was Defamer, that called it the Metroid Prime Tour? Either way, I still laugh at that.

  • Wow, this takes his douchiness to a whole new level.

I liked his "Glow In The Dark" show and just when I thought I was starting to warm up to him again this just validates all the negative feelings I had before.

    Fuck off Kanye.

  • Who knew rich and famous people could be insecure?

  • This just makes me like him more. Hell, every day I read (and get e-mails from) whiny peckerheads who get super-butthurt if any music they unreservedly love gets even mildly downplayed, but none of 'em wrote "Flashing Lights".

  • Yeah, it's over the top...but if you listen to him, why would it be any surprise? Hello, the WHOLE SHOW is based on his brilliant egomania...no?

I just got interested in him within the last month or so, I haven't listened to much of his music, and bought tickets for this show, read his blog, and none of this seems out of character to me. What's the problem?

  • Well I thought the "kill yourself" line was a bit extreme, but apparently so did he since he's since edited it out. Ah, Kanye, don't you know that nothing you post on the Internet *really* goes away?

  • Yeah, I kinda love his hypersensitivity and his tendency to blow his cool--you sorta never know what he's gonna say, and sometimes, like with the George Bush line, he wins the whole fucking world.

  • I live in Seattle and Key Arena is widely considered to be the worst concert venue in the Puget Sound. The sound is shit, the layout is ridiculous and the beer is way over-priced. It's also the reason that we're losing our basketball team.

I'm not saying Kanye didn't put on the greatest show in the history of performing arts (I decided against buying tickets so I wasn't there), I'm just saying that even if James Brown, John Lennon and George Harrison came back to life and Brown and the Beatles played a concert on my birthday at Key Arena, the best it could be is "pretty good."
