Staind, 3 Doors Down, and Hinder are joining forces to rock sheds and state fairs this summer. Staind is currently recording a new album with the working title The Illusion of Progress, which would make an excellent name for the tour as well. While it’s difficult to imagine a more immediately loathsome bill, I believe the tour hits the midwest smack in the middle of tornado season, which should provide for some hope/excitement. Right off the top of my head, I can’t think of three bands I’d less want to see. At least this way the infection can be contained.
On July 9th, Soul Asylum and The Gin Blossoms are playing in Atlanta. Suck on that!
@Chris N.: Agreed 100%.
@Chris N.: Puddle of Mudd?
Fury In The Slaughterhouse?
Dink?
Marcy Playground?
Slightly Stoopid? (They do a Nirvana cover!)
Cherry Poppin’ Daddies?
Fun Lovin’ Criminals?
Shawn Mullins?
Dishwalla?
The Offspring?
Korn?
Tantric?
Wax?
Scapegoat Wax?
Hoobastank?
Man, these Q101 top songs by year lists are really entertaining.
@Maura Johnston:
Don’t forget Saliva and The Bloodhound Gang.
Call it “Sucklaholma”!
Dog Eat Dog?
Really, I just love how quickly Hinder disappeared into that maw of nothing it so rightly deserved to disappear into.
Wow, Dog Eat Dog! Points to you Thierry!
Nickelback
Crazytown
Alien Ant Farm
Damn Maura. That’s like some rant list.
I hate to admit I like Dink and Bloodhoundgang, but I accept that I am sad for this.
@Maura Johnston: Comically, I have a friend that’s like the most naive, optimistic, small town 23 year old girl on God’s green earth, and she’s obsessed with Shawn Mullins. Every time she sees him in person (or *shudder* the Thorns), she calls me, because she says I care about music more than her other friends, and thus should be moved by her tears over her idol. One of my favorite moments in college was walking down a hallway with her, as we crossed an indie-rock kid in an ironic Shawn Mullins shirt. She accosted him, asking if he had heard any of the new album, and nearly scared the man to death in the process.
@Maura Johnston: I would actually like to see Dink, thank you.
I kinda like the Gin Blossoms. And maybe I liked Soul Asylum for a minute. Otherwise, I think this thread contains the makings of the greatest Sucksapalooza ever.
Dishwalla’s follow-up was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, I may be the only person on the planet besides the band members’ families who heard it.
