Ned’s Atomic Dustbin Give Themselves The Christmas Present Of A ’90s Nostalgia-Fueled Payday

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin are the latest bygone band to announce a reunion, with a single show at London’s Astoria this Dec. 6. Much as I love their double-bassed assault, aren’t we running out of bands that can reunite during this decade? As far as I can see, the list is composed of The Smiths, Pavement, Uncle Tupelo, and… uh… I mean, I guess Milli Vanilli can’t really count… [NME]

    @Clevertrousers:

Sorry man, one of those Shadowy Men are dead too... you could always
just go to the Kids in the Hall reunion and hear them blast Having an
    Average Weekend....

  • Dick Laurent is dead.
  • bcapirigi

    another bad creation?

  • telecomic the thoughtful red p

@coolfer: three good choices, for sure.

@Dick Laurent is dead.: Adorable would be good, too.

I'm holding out hope for a Kitchens of Distinction reunion. I remember seeing them at the old 9:30 Club in DC back when "Drive That Fast" was on WHFS four times a day. Such a delightful group...

This isn't the first reunion attempt by Ned's. They were back together briefly in the early 00's, and set to play NYC at CMJ 2001 which was canceled because of 9/11. Not only did they opt to not come back and play the rescheduled CMJ later that year, they broke up again.

They put out a pretty decent live record documenting the reunion as well, which was pretty rocking.

Ned's B-sides were always better than the album cuts. "Terminally Groovy" or "Nothing is Cool" anyone?

  • soundbitesnyc

    Ride comes to mind.

    and, um, Butterglory?

  • infinit Loop

    Jawbreaker! that's a fucking reunion.

  • Cam/ron

@The Notorious T: Come to think of it, that song wasn't really about anything except getting high.

  • Ned Raggett

Always a perfect excuse to pick up another T-shirt.

  • brasstax

@The Notorious T: What? The first two Neds albums are great front-to-back, and the third one isn't complete trash. They've got plenty to build a setlist from.

  • The Notorious T

So how many times can N.A.D. play "Grey Cell Green" at one show? Is there an over/under?

  • How do I say this ... THROWDIN

Re: Milli Vanilli -- To whatever extent they count, one of them is dead, so it seems rather unlikely. Although I suppose the real singers could tour. Did those guys ever put out a record of their own?

/too lazy/apathetic to look it up on wikipedia myself
