I am a 44 year old male, weaned on every punk,arty,new wave and hard rock band on the planet, and never had any interest in pop music whatsoever. Archuleta has made me listen to pop music for the first time by breathing into it a honest, sensitive, humble soulfulness. He is a real artist, without pretension. And, I must say that I am surprised he didn’t pull a few strings in order to nab Jordin Sparks and perform Chris Brown’s part on No Air. Though said idea would have had to been conjured up by Papa Archuleta, and was more than likely nixed when they took away his right to sit in on rehearsals.

For a while now I have been wondering what American Idol would be like if it it had an Usher/Chris Brown like contestant complete with mid-song choreography, background dancers, the whole nine. Unfortunately, this smart little move by Mr. David Archuleta was NOT what I had in mind.
