Anthems for the Damned may be the first Filter album in six years, and you might not have liked Filter that much to begin with, but frontman Richard Patrick has challenged you–all of you–to listen to it in full. Apparently, the new album is for those of you with “an extensive, eclectic CD collection,” and features the sonic diversity that you expect from Filter. Patrick throws down the gauntlet: “I challenge people to listen to my record from start to finish, because I do want them to experience everything that I can offer.” I’d take him on, but after my recent Doors experience, I’m not sure I’m fully recovered enough to pull it off. In return, I challenge Richard Patrick to give me the album for free so I don’t have to risk my hard-earned money on such a challenge.
“it’s like an iPod on shuffle…”
Not sure that’s what you want to go for when making an album. But hey, what do I know?
Hey man, nice shot…
But I’ll have to pass on said offer.
Wocka wocka.
Richard Patrick is one of those artists who had a brief success, and then blamed his lack of continued success on piracy and iPod culture. Basically what he’s saying is: “The problem is not MY music, people, it’s the fact that YOU don’t know how to listen to it.”
you know, if you take your brain out momentarily, “Short Bus” is an okay record…Richard – i’d settle for another album that sounds like “Short Bus”.
His brother is the T-1000.
I choose to listen to zero tracks on that album.
I still like that “Take a Picture” song, more even than “Hey Man, Nice Shot,” but I’m pretty sure it was a fluke in the Filter repertoire.
Clear, Strong singing voice + Crisp production + not much else = Filter
=( Please make more songs about people blowing their head off thank you.
I actually just listened to the album and I’m going to see Filter in concert on Friday so hey, I guess I’m a fan. The new record is pretty good, but I don’t think it’s very eclectic. If anything, it’s pretty much what I expect a Filter record to sound like. FionaScrapple nailed it, though I wish they had more songs like “Take a Picture” “The Only Way is the Wrong Way” and “Miss Blue”.
There is no “Dose” or “Under” on this album. Come back, 1995, come back.
This dude used to be NIN’s guitarist back in the day, yes?
