As much as it embarrasses me to admit it, when I saw the subheadline “‘Thriller,’ ‘Pretty Woman’ among selected” in regards to today’s inductees into the National Recording Registry, I initially assumed that the Pretty Woman soundtrack would be preserved with The Best-Selling Album Of All Time in the Library Of Congress. How could I forget that big-voiced guy who liked to wear sunglasses–you know, David Lee Roth? Maybe next time, Roxette! [Variety]

I remember getting into an argument with my first boyfriend on whether Roy Orbison was blind or not (him: “He wears sunglasses all the time– he’s obviously blind. Duh!”).

Hmmm. The NRR website says the Voyager Space Record was “never released to the public” but its contents WERE released very very briefly as a CD-ROM back in the mid-nineties…which is why, if you’re lucky, you can find the audio contents of the disk on the file-sharing network of your choice.
