smash.jpgEpitaph is getting into the “Special Edition” biz by remastering and adding a 24-page booklet to the Offspring’s 1994 album Smash, once a seemingly ordinary OC punk release that sold over 11 million copies worldwide by mixing Nirvana with the Circle Jerks. The band’s previous album, 1992’s Ignition (which belatedly went platinum thanks to Smash-mania) will also be remastered, though no fancypants booklet will be added. These surprisingly outtake free re-releases will coincide with the release of the Offspring’s new album, American Idiot, Patience & Grace [Offspring.com]

Another album that can easily be found in the $1 bin of every used CD shop gets the super deluxe edition. Why?
