Kanye West Does Not Care About North Dakota

AP071013025698.jpgWhether due to low ticket sales or Mr. West wanting a day off, the Fargo, N.D. date of the Glow In The Dark tour has been canceled. The date came between gigs in Chicago and Winnipeg, and it’s not surprising that a sluggish response from North Dakotans would inspire Kanye to say, “Why was I going to play in North Dakota when I could spend another day in Chicago challenging celebrities to games of Connect Four! Man, I love Connect Four! I’m the greatest person on earth and I challenge people to games of Connect Four! Chess? What’s that? I only obsess about games designed for seven-year-olds. Because I’m awesome.”

“I can’t really make it a secret that ticket sales were not as anticipated,” Fargodome manager Rob Sobolik told Fargo’s Forum newspaper. “Obviously, we talked about ticket sales.” Another promoter wasn’t exactly sure of West’s reasoning for canceling the performance over the holiday weekend.

“I honestly can’t say what the exact reasoning is,” said another promoter of the Glow in the Dark tour in North Dakota.

“Maybe it’s just a vacation day. Who knows?”

Currently, the only other acts scheduled to play the Fargodome this summer are Sawyer Brown, The Johnny Holm Band, Diamond Rio, and Soul Asylum (!), all of whom are on the bill for next month’s four-day Fargo Rib Fest. Hey, maybe that has something to do with it.

    This sucks. My friends and I bought our tickets the day they went on sale and were really looking forward to this 'cause we've all been fans since College Dropout. I wish he would've never planned on playing in Fargo, 'cause then we could've bought tickets to the Winnipeg show instead, but it's too late for that now :(

    @Chris Molanphy:
    Kanye West doesn't care about white, working-class voters.

    Connect Four may be for 7 year olds, but I play for money, $25 a game. And I'm damn good at it.

    Johnny Holm rocked my prom!

    @Richard Dipper: My deepest apologies to Kanye's artistic sensibilities, which have never shown the slightest bit of immaturity or misplaced egomania. This kind of hackery has no place on Idolator.

    Mr. Dipper, I think we got off on the wrong foot. I know I can come off a little proactive, and for that I'm sorry. But if everyone could find a place in their hearts for the little dog that nobody wanted, I know we can make them laugh and cry until we grow old together.

    Given recent demographic patterns, I'm surprised the canceled concert wasn't in West Virginia or Kentucky.

    If playing Connect Four is immature, consider me a very immature version of Miles Davis.

    Well yeah, but seriously.... North Dakota. That quote is real.

    @Richard Dipper: Oh, hi Kanye.

    What's more immature than playing Connect Four? Punctuating a blog post with sarcastic non-quotes that have everything to do with someone's hobby and nothing to do with someone's artistic sensibilities.

    What is this turning into, Perez Hilton? You hack.
