With decent reviews and interesting public appearances, Usher is virtually assured of next week’s number one spot on the album chart. The question is, however, how many copies will he actually sell?
The biggest first weeks of the year so far have been Mariah Carey’s E=MC2, with close to 475,000 sold, followed by the Jack Johnson album I’m too indifferent about to look up the title for with 380,000. You’d have to think Usher will top Johnson for certain, and likely Carey as well, but when Confessions opened with nearly 1.1 million in 2004, that topping the half million mark first week is a question says something about the last four years for the industry.

It has been half a year since Usher released his hit song Lil Freak and I still love it. The Stevie Wonder sample fits wonderfully with Usher’s sultry voice and the horns work well with Nicki’s fierce rapping style! Even though this song didn’t chart as high as Usher’s other song, OMG, Lil Freak is the better song, probably the best one on the album.
