Our quest for the No. 1 song of summer 2008 continues today with a face-off between two songs that seem to have been expressly designed for maximum June-September listening, Kid Rock’s Warren Zevon homage “All Summer Long” and Tyga’s Harry Nilsson-inspired “Coconut Juice.” The clips, the defenses, and the all-important poll after the jump.

Can’t watch the videos at work, but I would crawl across broken glass to vote against Kid Rock.
@Empire: See, here’s the problem. Anyone voting against Kid Rock on this one is clearly wishful thinking. The Tyga song, ultimately, is boring… maybe the beat will work in a club, but I don’t seeing it making any serious headway on the radio. Like it or loathe it, that Kid Rock song is going to be a monster.
@Halfwit: Second. Ashamed to admit it, but…c’mon.
@chaircrusher: I can’t listen to NPR because it sucks cancerous balls in other ways, but everything else about your statement was 100% on. The 3:42 that I spent watching that Kid Rock video was one of the most painful things I’ve experienced in a very long time….and tragically, Halfwit is right. It’s going to be huge.
after reading the comments on the kid rock song, I actually expected it to be good. It is so underwhelming, I can barely even type this because I am about to fall asleep this song is so boring and disappointing. I actually had an open mind and expected it not to suck, but it sucks, sorry guys.
sure, it might blow up…but I’ll be bumping coconut juice
I mean, this is coming from the person who picked a Brooks & Dunn track, but I think it’s going to be hard to avoid the Kid this summer.
It might be my current obsession with all things Masta Ace related, but I’m casting my vote for Kidz In The Hall’s “Driving Down The Block” Remix with Cool Kidz, Bun B and Pusha T. Nobody’s got a hotter track this summer - and I don’t even own a car!

IMHO both these songs make baby jesus cry.
What’s could possibly be more annoying than Kid Rock pulling a Tim McGraw, whose “Kristofferson” is exhibit A for endstage meta-wanking in country music? Kid didn’t even bother to come up with his own arrangement, biting both Zevon and Skynyrd in the same song. The lyric is basically Bryan Adams’ “Summer of 65″ only even dumber. Kid Rock aspires to be John Mellencamp but even the Cougar’s modest talents make Kid Rock look like a trailer trash Salieri. Motherfuck Kid Rock and John Wayne.
Tyga ain’t much better, grave-robbing Harry Nilsson for a hook. I voted for this over Kid Rock, because Kid is a moron, but ‘Coconut’ is effing boring. And hey, Kid and Play called — they want their video back!
I guess there’s a reason I listen to NPR — commersh radio programmers have a litmus test for what they play: “HEY DOES THIS SONG SUCK MY CANCEROUS BALLS?” If it does? Heavy rotation!
