    @loudersoft: I own (and use) a Zune. It’s actually pretty decent if you use the subscription service.

    While I don’t actually need this new one, I must say that that album art looks awesome in pretty much any context you squeeze it into.

    Zune sounds a lot like those “independent film-makers that believe in more than just commercial success”. Looking at the artists they choose to promote (The Shins, Rogue Wave, Joel Ortiz, Joy Division, etc), they seem to be trying to be far too “indie” for their own good.

    For a bit more success, they should prbly jump on the iPod bandwagon and start using bands like Coldplay as a marketing tool.

    Um… I kind of hate myself for writing that last sentence.

    OK, I know this is kind of a simple-minded attitude, but seriously, anyone with the title “General Manager of Global Marketing” should never utter the phrase “a tribute to the self-belief and self-expression that inspires true, authentic art.” Admittedly, pretty much nobody should ever utter claptrap on that level, but it goes down all the harder this way.

    Not that I blame them for wanting to hook themselves onto the awesomest album art ever, but y’know, just issue a press release that says “This thing looks damn cool. Don’t you want one?” THAT’s true and authentic marketing art right there.
