Not sure why Maura thought Jani Lane would leave the recently reunited Warrant after two warm-up gigs to lead a less successful band he had nothing to do with, but I’m happy to say that the new singer of Tracii Guns’ L.A. Guns (as opposed to the other L.A. Guns) is not the once and future Down Boy. The new singer for L.A. Guns is Marty Casey, who was formerly a Radiohead-crazy hopeful on Rock Star: INXS. Rock on, reality show contestant! [Blabbermouth]

hair-gelled man-tan dudes from LA always love Radiohead, and want to be Thom Yorke. what they don’t understand is that, love him or hate him, Thom Yorke gets his particular brand of down-in-the-mouth rock star swagger from living in effing oxford where it rains 3/4 of the year.
what happens when pretty boys from the Golden State attempt to be mopey? “They sound like Paloalto?” That’s right, they sound like Paloalto.
@westartedthis: There is much truth to this. (See also Remy Zero, surely.)
But what about the Lovehammers?
@westartedthis: Except that I am fairly sure that Marty Casey is from Chicago - not LA.
Awesome… I still remember his “you and me and all these trees” song from Rock Star.
Man I loved that show, for all the best reasons.
@Ned Raggett: And Remy Zero (was) from Birmingham.
PS: No one cared about Rock Star:INXS and no one cares about L.A. Guns.
@westartedthis: except for the fact that Michael is not originally FROM Chicago - just played here.
@TriedandTrue:
he must be Chicago’s greatest export since Michael played for the Wizards.
Oh, Michael. Oh, Jesus.
