The final two contestants in our search for the 2008 jam of the summer come to us courtesy of all of you (well, at least those of you who felt like voting in our play-in poll last week). After the jump, watch as Mariah Carey battles it out with the latest Akon-hooked track!

Is a Local Language Essential to Preserve Cultural Identity on the Social Web? This is not the only example why language shouldn't matter for true understanding and harmony between cultures. A similar video production created a few months earlier by the popular American artist Akon with a team from Mumbai also bear proof that power ...
Hey Mr. DJ: 10 Questions for Clinton Sparks For a Boston boy who had his head buried in turntables and production equipment on the come-up, the nod is a dream come true. However ... Busta Rhymes, and Akon are just a few of the names he’s produced and written records for.
dammit, and here i was all excited to vote for danity kane. but no, i guess i’ll vote for mariah. even though Damages is so very much better and on my radio every single time i turn it on.
I’m with you on that tip. That track is fire. I even got love for the video. And the album? All killer no filler. At least up until the end. [You know the cool down relax/introspective ballad land so many acts fall into at the tail end of their discs]. But here’s my problem with Danity Kane: yes Didy can round up all the current and hip producers in the world, and arm these girls with slick beats and the like, but I still can not put a face to a vocal whenever I listen to a Danity Kane track, and for me, that’s kind of a problem. It’s almost a faceless pop/R&B album, no matter how much I may enjoy listening to it or the first half of its predecessor.
Now, in regards to this Summer Jam tourney. As far as I’m concerned, the rest of these contestants might as well go home and give Mariah the top prize. Real talk.
Actually I take that back. I’d be happy if that Lloyd and Lil Wayne track stole the show as well, but I’d appreciate it if it didn’t come down to that Idolators. That’s just too hard of a decision. Too hard…
Give it to dangerous. That track’s kinda catchy. Plus, fuck Mariah. That bitch fucking sucks. What is her appeal? Shit voice, lame same-ol’songs, 100% personality & charisma free; what the fuck is it about her?
And Robyn needs to be on this somewhere, somehow. Even if she doesn’t really have a single out, and doesn’t have a chance in hell of getting played on the radio here in the U.S
We just saw the new Sandler movie, Zohan, this weekend, and not only does MC have a sizable cameo in the flick, but guess what song of hers they chose to showcase in the final scene rolling into the credits? Yep.
Make no mistake, with “Bye Bye” already basically flopped (much to my surprise), “…Long Time” is clearly the horse they’re gonna ride over the summer.

i sure hope robyn wins this thing.

“Dangerous” got me throwin’ those bows. It is fiyah. Too bad it features Akon the fugaze.
@Maura Johnston: and by robyn i mean annie.
excuse me while i die in the corner.
@cosmiclove: Yeah, I really have an unnatural love for this song. Yes, even (especially?) the Akon hook.
And yes, even though Kardinal Offishal seems to be trying really hard to be Ludacris.
Voted KO. Now I’m hijacking this thread temporarily with a late entry:
Meanwhile, it would seem that T.I. is going to be on a remix of the Mariah track:

@Maura Johnston: WOW, way to give a shoutout to Mariahdaily! You like her, you really really LIKE her!
@HONEYBFLY: hahha, nah, i just found it on ontd.
The Weezy/Bun track was robbed.
