The lineup for the American versions of the Brit’s Download Festival were a bit underwhelming. The Brits get KISS, Judas Priest, and Motorhead tonight, and the three dates stateside have Ghostland Observatory and Mute Math? This week, the San Francisco and Los Angeles dates were improved slightly with the addition of the Jesus and Mary Chain and Gang of Four (the Shrinkwrapped version), to go along with the totally underrated Brand New and a bunch of bloggo faves like Yeasayer. The LA date is even indoors. Tough break, Philly — you guys still have the Killers. [Download Festival]

Agreed on the Brand New comment but I’m kind of glad that blog-o-world doesn’t talk about them too much. It would kind of ruin it.
@2ironic4u: I’m with you. Although I imagine most readers would write them off no matter what you said anyways. Makes me love The Devil And God… all the more. What a great album start to finish.
@sicksteanein: @2ironic4u: I do really like Brand New. Devil and God (etc.) was an album I really liked, but in all of their albums, I am hard pressed to find irony, and I worry they really take themselves that seriously (as compared to, say, Taking Back Sunday: a band I like a lot less, but at least they know their job is to be full of shit). They can keep feeling however they choose, though, as long as the music stays good.
