A Tony Wilson Day Is A Great Day Indeed

June 17th, 2008 // 5 Comments

Footage of Factory head Tony Wilson discussing the history of the computer, which apparently has a lot to do with Manchester somehow, has emerged some 10 years after it was shot and, presumably, misplaced. Of course, any six-and-a-half-minute opportunity to bask in the strangeness of the departed Wilson is much appreciated, even moreso if he uses part of that time to dismiss the recorded output of Simply Red. If you haven’t listened to Wilson’s commentary track on ’24 Hour Party People,’ you should give that a try.

aww Tony, he’s brilliant. I totally think that phone call was staged. I can see him wanting to show off his fancy cell phone brick…and telling his son to call during the interview! Ciao Darling!
Ha! Simply Red trying to steal Blue Monday thunder? Come on now…
I was lucky enough to see him at the Happy Mondays show at Coachella last year, it was probably one of his last appearances, but he was as energetic and enthusiastic as ever!
