Above, Tim McGraw gives the hook to some guy who had enough money to pay for a front-row seat to his show and enough booze in him to think that getting up in the space of a nearby woman was a good idea. In the YouTube comments attached to this clip, there’s a raging debate over whether or not this whole thing was staged for maximizing McGraw’s Google juice (friendly reminder: he’s on tour now!), but I like to think that if it was a play for the cameraphone crowd, McGraw would have given the guy a roundhouse punch or at least a stern on-mic beratement before handing him over to the backstage security detail. A Nashville-based act who supported John Kerry in ‘04; defends ladies at shows from boorish men. I think I love this guy.
Cool. I doubt it was staged. Good for Tim! I hate that we’re so cynical as a society that we think everything is faked: this, Tiger’s knee injury, etc.
Looks real to me.
That being said, the event transpired during a song that contains the following lyrics…
They all gather ’round my teepee
Late at night tryin’ to catch a peek at me
In nothin’ but my buffalo briefs
I got ‘em standin’ in line
‘Cause I’m an Indian outlaw
Half Cherokee and Choctaw
My baby she’s a Chippewa
She’s one of a kind
Cherokee people
Cherokee tribe
So proud to live
So proud to die
I’m sure they’re proud of that little ditty, too.
