Because the comment gallery here is a collection of musical tastemakers without parallel, we like to ask you about the music we might be missing from time to time. Note: The last installment of this particular feature led to at least one expensive import purchase on my part, so while my ears thank you in advance, my wallet might not.

I’ve just discovered a band called “A Life of Science.”
I’m very pleased with them
but it was worth it right, dan?
king khan and the shrines finally get a u.s. release, a best of on vice, and it, of course shreds. best garage-soul band in existence.
new spiritualized is pretty dope too.
The Band of Heathens:
Elizabeth Cook:
The Pinx:
Adrianne Verhoeven - better known as Dri - has a great new album called ‘Smoke Rings’:

Enjoy!
@iantenna: I like that King Khan disc a lot, although the ubiquity of the advertising for it in blogland led me to initially believe I wouldn’t.
@Dan Gibson: i can dig it. were it to have come out on vice w/out me having prior knowledge of the band i probably would have never even bothered to listen. my friends and i each have a list of artists/bands that we never, ever have to listen to no matter how much pressure there may be to do so (i.e. “dude, i was listening to blue the other day, i’d forgotten how great that album is.” “fuck you! joni mitchell is on my list.”). point being, vice records as a whole is on my list, i have never heard death from above 1979 and i think i’m probably better off for it.
but, more importantly, did you dig the jim ford? ever since randomly picking up a vinyl copy of harlan county, ky i can’t get enough of that guy.
I agree, the new Spiritualized is money as is the newest from Shearwater.
Check out Frightened Rabbit, which is a fine replacement for Snow Patrol.

Hmm I tried to make this comment earlier, but the site seems to have eaten it. I was saying…
I wrote about her a few months back, but I still really like Aroah: [idolator.com]
Her song “La escala de las cosas” blows my mind:
And Muchachito Bombo Infierno: [idolator.com]
Really liking the songs I’ve heard from Jaguar Love that’s releasing an album on Matador in a couple months, not too familiar with the members’ previous bands but this stuff is sounding good.
Mike Keneally, Stuart Davis, Mieka Pauley, Porcupine Tree, Kevin Gilbert, Jim Boggia.
I’m sure we all agree.
New Candlebox.
@ShupBish: Thanks, I had no idea. I was just thinking about her the other day when I spotted that new Anniversary b-sides/rarities record.
Gotta Represent MKE.

May not be super underground, but the new Islands record is pretty great.
I can’t recommend the Chap’s new album, Mega Breakfast, enough. I think they’re one of the few completely unique bands I’ve heard in the past few years.
Album of the (hot) summer = Low Motion Disco’s Keep it Slow. Chillout disco from Switzerland that barely breaks a sweat. Five Stairsteps sample in current single “Things Are Gonna Get Easier”.
I’ve been playing the new Girl Talk a lot, quite a fun listen, and doesn’t disappoint if you’re a fan. Other than that, listening to a lot of My Morning Jacket and Pelican.
… and this new Miley Cyrus cover by The Mae Shi. It is catchy and terrifying.
@Defenestrated: Silly me, should probably link to something pertaining to that Mae Shi cover…

I was very pleased to discover Vivian Girls out of NYC - good if you like Black Tambourine, Slumber Party and other ethereal psych-ish bands. Also enjoying the new Darker My Love - their album isn’t out until August, but they’ve got a few new songs up on their myspace that have great potential for becoming my preeminent summer jams.
@ScrabbleChamp: the chap album is very awesome. i’m also really into the silje nes cd, if you’re in the mood for something pretty and quiet to listen to when it’s gorgeous outside and you’re sitting in an overly air conditioned workplace staring at a computer screen all day. and i’m still not over margaret berger. and the new hong kong in the 60’s song that they just posted on their myspace.
It’s old hat by now, but I finally got the V is for Viagra remix disc for Puscifer and the toned down approach is really good on these… though the sense of humor still shines through at times. I like it quite lot.
